Severe Weather Project Reflection

Image
Severe Weather Project Reflection: Summary: The project was a bit challenging because I had to research all the information about the drought, hailstorm, hurricanes, floods and etc. The project was exciting too because I got to make trading cards. Backward-Looking Reflection: The resources I used this week were the links that we used in the computer. These resources were especially helpful because it had lots if information in the websites. I would use these again for other projects and assignments.  Inward-Looking Reflection: What was satisfying about my work this week was a trading card project about severe weather. It was satisfying because I got a decent amount of the cards done. I was pleased with it because I got lots of work done.    Outward-Looking: I did my work the way the others did. It was similar because I had my assumptions just like the others and I did most of my work by doing a similar strategy. It was also similar because my table was doin

Weather 12/5

Image
Weather: Summary: Weather is powered by the sun, water cycle and wind. Weather happens in the troposphere - the first layer of the atmosphere. Weather is tornadoes, hail, sleet, snow, droughts, floods, hurricanes and lots more. Backward-Looking Reflection: I used the computer. My resources were especially helpful this week. I would use them again because it has information that I can use. Inward-Looking Reflection: I feel like I did a good job on my work and that I got lots done. I liked the part were we got to research the weather on EDHEADS.

Reflective

Reflective : Mr. Cuttatree

Letter to Mr.Cuttatree

Dear Mr. Cuttatree, I heard that you were going to cut down the trees of the rainforest to build your Uppitty Resort. Building your resort from the trees of the rainforest will cause these effects: lack of oxygen, mudslides, and loss of natural medicine from animals; anti-venom. This is bad for the all the animals such as the blue moth. This also bad for the environment because the animals that eat the blue moth will die out because they do not have the food they need to reproduce. The top predators that eat the animal will die out because they do not have the food they need to reproduce. Here are my three main reasons: Main Reason #1: Cutting down the trees of the rainforest will cause the lack of oxygen. In our class, we did some photosynthesis activities and research and found that their waste gas is oxygen. If you cut down the trees we will suffer loss of most of our oxygen. Without oxygen Earth will become the suffocating place it once was. All the whales, dolphins and manat

Deforestation 11/14

Image
Deforestation 11/14 Summary: Deforestation is bad for the animals and plants who live in the rainforest because all their food will have gone extinct and we will suffer because some of those animals are our food. We also will suffer oxygen loss and medicine like the anti-venom. Backward-Looking Reflection: I have gotten better at this work because I have memorized all my facts and found some more information of deforestation. I also have done more work and have gotten better grades on my work. I have gotten better because I paid attention to my work and became more attentive. Inward-Looking Reflection: I have changed my ideas about my work this week because it seemed interesting and it was amazing about what I learned this week. I have changed my ideas because the work was important. I have changed my ideas because the work this week was more challenging.

Deforestation 11/7

Image
Deforestation Summary: I learned that the more trees we cut down in the rainforest, the more oxygen we are preventing. I also learned that deforestation is killing animals and possibly making them extinct or endangered. Backward-Looking Reflection: I have done a similar kind of work in the past. In 4th grade I learned that fewer rainforests remain. We also learned that deforestation was awful, because we were killing lots of animals and plants that were innocent and important. Another thing we learned was how to prevent it from happening. Inward-Looking Reflection: The work that I learned about this week was enjoyable . I enjoyed it because we were learning about the importance of taking proper care of all plants and animals. Saving the rainforest is something that I want to help with.

10/31 "Interdependence of Organisms - 2"

Image
Interdependence of Organisms Summary: I learned about the parasitic relationships, commensalism relationships, and mutualism relationships. Parasitic relationships mean that a small parasite, such as fleas land on an unsuspecting animal. The animal gets itchy which makes it uncomfortable for it while the fleas get benefited. Commensalism relationships mean that one animal such as a bird decides to build a nest on a tree. The tree doesn't even care. Mutualism means that one animal and another animal both get benefited, such as an ox-pecker and a rhino. The ox-pecker eats the ticks and other bugs that are bothering the rhino, and the rhino gives the ox-pecker food and shelter. The ox-pecker is also like a warning system - letting the rhino know if danger is approaching. Backward-Looking Reflection: I didn't know about the rainforest and all it's symbiotic relationships, such as parasitic, commensalism, and mutualism. I learned about it in 4th grade, with

10/24 Interdependence of Organisms

Image
Interdependence of Organisms The interdependence of organisms is when organisms depend on each other for food to survive. Their whole reason to survival is so that they can live long enough to reproduce.  Backward Looking - Reflection: If an animal disappears from the rainforest then the animal who depends on this dying species for it's survival will also die due to lack of food. And so on and so on. Also it will affect the animal/plant that it does eat, meaning if the humming bird disappears from the rainforest or other biomes it will affect flowers or other plants, meaning they will over populate or under populate and that biome/rainforest will not have a healthy balances of plants and animals. Inward Looking - Reflection: I liked the work that I did this week because I could understand all the animals and the food chains/webs. I also liked it because of the fun activities that we did.I liked it because instead of using everyday textbooks, we get to google thi

Nervous System

Image
Nervous System   Function: The nervous system controls are the systems in your body. Organs: Spinal cord, nerves, brain. The spinal cord allows information to travel to and from the brain to other systems. The brain is the "boss" of the whole body. The nerves let you feel something like if you are testing the water at a creek. Your nerves will let your brain know if the water is cold or not. Same thing with a cup of hot chocolate. What other system(s) it works with: It works with all the  systems in your body. Fun facts: 1.Your body has more nerve cells in the human body that stars in the Milky Way(which is our galaxy.) 2.If we were to line up all the neurons in our body, they would reach to be 600 miles long! 3. There are 100 billion neurons in your brain alone. 4. A newborn baby's brain grows almost 3 times the course of it's first year. 5. A newborn baby loses about half of their nerve cells before they are born. How to keep it health

Excertory System

Excretory System Function:The function of the excretory system(also know as the urinary system) is to get rid of waste. Organs: Kidney, Bladder Functions of the two organs: The bladder 's function is to get rid of unwanted liquids in your body. The kidney 's function is send the waste to your bladder . What other system it works with: The Digestive, Circulatory, Endocrine, and Respiratory systems.  How to keep it healthy:You must exercise to keep your excretory system healthy.  Fun facts: 1. You can tell if you are dehydrated or if you're hydrated just by looking at the color of your urine. Dark yellow  means you are dehydrated and light yellow means you are hydrated. 2. Your bladder holds up to about 300ml. to 600ml. 3. The average person passes approximately 1.5 liters to about 2 liters. 4. Nerves send signals to the bladder when it needs to be empty by giving you the urge to rush to the bathroom. 5. You can suffer from stress i

Skeletal System

Image
Skeletal System Function: There are three main functions: 1. It allows you to move. 2. It creates blood cells in the bone marrow. 3. It protects your vital organs. Organs:Bone, Cartilage, Tendon, Ligament How to keep it healthy: You need physical exercise to keep your skeletal system strong/healthy. Walking or jogging for example will get you a very strong or healthy skeletal system. Joints that the system has: fibrous, cartilagenous, and synovial. Synovial joints are the largest type of joints in the skeletal system. Fun Facts : 1. You have 206 bones that make up your skeletal system. 2.The skeletal system is not only made up of 206 bones, but it is also made up of 206 bones and 32 teeth. 3. Bones are six times stronger that steel. 4.The smallest bone in your body is the size of a grain of rice. 5.The human feet have 52 bones. 6.In new born babies there are around 300 bones! 7.The outside of bones is hard while the inside is squishy and gooey. 8

Muscular System

Image
Muscular System Function:The muscular system makes you move you bones. Organs: smooth, cardiac, skeletal muscles Class activity: We constructed muscles to understand how they work. 1. Trace your hand on a side of a folder. 2. Cut out your 'hand'. 3. Get 4 pieces of yarn. 4 Make double knots on each piece of yarn. 5. Get a stapler to staple your pieces of yarn. 6. Move your constructed 'muscles.' What other system it works with: Digestive, Circulatory, and the Respiratory Systems. It works with the digestive system to provide nutrients. It works with the circulatory system to provide circulation. It works with the respiratory to allow the diaphragm to expand. How to keep it healthy:You must work out regularly if you want a healthy muscular system. If you want your muscular system have enough energy to work out you should probably go for apples, oranges, or some fruit to have lots of energy to work out. Fun Facts:1. You have 700 musc

Digestive System

Image
Digestive System Function:Our digestive system breaks food pieces down.    Parts of the system:mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. Class activity: We went outside in the order of the parts of the digestive system with cards representing what the parts in the digestive system was, ex:I have a card that says 'mouth'. Then we went in the order of process of digesting. 1. I was the mouth, so first, crackers go into mouth, that is where digesting starts. 2. then teeth break it down. 3.tongue is putting saliva on the broken crackers to make it easier to digest. 4.food goes down the esophagus. 5. swallowed food lands in stomach. 6.digestive juices break the food chunks into even smaller pieces. 7. the smaller food pieces go into the small intestine, the small intestine is starting to get rid of liquids. 8.the food pieces go into the large intestine which separate the liquids even more until you have waste. 9. waste goes int
