Weekly Blog - Cells 9|2|16

Summary:

During this week, I learned that a plant cell has a cell wall whereas the animal cell does not have a cell wall. I also learned that the cell was discovered by a scientist by the name of Robert Hooke in 1655 using a microscope. Another thing that I learned about the cell and cell theory was that cell theory was "credited to the work of Theodor Schwann and Matthias Jakob Schleiden in the 1830s."

SP8: Obtain, evaluate and communicate information

We had to complete an online worksheet titled Hypothesis, Variables, Controls, Oh My! then corrected the worksheet with our class, where first, we would be given scientific terms and were asked to define them in our own words. Another section of the Google Doc. asked us to highlight the "testable questions" (a testable question is a question that is asked by one who can solve it using the Scientific Method). The last section of the paper was where we were given problems and had to identify the manipulated variable, responding variable, the controls, and the hypothesis.
